Quality Through Qualities: Be Confident
When you go to the doctor what’s the most important, basic thing that you hope for? Answer: That the doctor knows what they’re talking about. You want to put your confidence in the doctor that they can be trusted and that they have the best answers for your health care needs.
If there’s no trust, then even if you need to see a doctor, there’s no motivation for followthrough. Here at the PTI, we believe in giving our personal best to our clients each and every day as well as striving to be the best place to go for your mental healthcare. It’s our commitment to our core values that leads us to show up at our best on a daily basis:
- Be Driven: Challenge the status quo
- Be Innovative: Welcome new ideas
- Be Balanced: Strive for balance in work, life, relationships, and overall wellness
- Be Empowered: Share our opinions and respect the opinions of others
- Be Fulfilled: Do what we love
Last, but not least, we’d like to introduce our sixth core value: Be Confident, which means believing in and supporting one another.
If there’s something that we can’t trace back to those six core values, we’re probably doing something wrong. It’s not that we don’t have any room for improvement, but that we are committed to continue our personal and professional growth in such a way that leads us to be better at what we do individually and as a team.
These core values, and our confidence in them is the glue that holds us to together and keeps us on the right path. We’re not interested in chasing rabbit trails and we practice what we preach. That’s why we have staff meetings where people are passionate about their ideas and finding creative ways to overcome the barriers that exist within the mental health industry.
Michael Jordan continues to be heralded as one of the best of all time because he had natural talent combined with a core value to practice hard and to play hard. He had the mentality of practicing ridiculous shots and being the first one in and the last one out of the gym on a regular basis. We want to be like Mike!
There are a lot of options out there for getting coverage for your mental health, however, not all options are created equal. Just about any doctor, whether a pediatrician, a generalist, or a physician at the hospital can prescribe medication. However, if you have a special need, such as mental health care, why not go to a specialist who’s surrounded by a team of all the folks you need to have on the same page for getting the best treatment available?
One of the things that we’re really excited about at the PTI is staying up to date on the most recent technology and research so that we can give people the treatment they need more efficiently. If we can fulfill our commitment to staying on top of things, that means we’re doing our job better and that’s what keeps us going.
In the last year, we began offering genetic testing. This is a new advancement in medicine that we believe will make a huge impact within the entire healthcare industry. Rather than trying a slew of different drugs to “wait and see how it works,” we can use the information from your genetic test to see how your body will best react and process the chemical compounds found within the medications which we prescribe.
Imagine this scenario: Your work performance is beginning to suffer from a medical condition that is becoming more and more serious as the months pass by. You go to a doctor who prescribes medication and you have to wait for a few weeks until it builds up in your system and then another two months to see if it’s the “right medication for you.” If it’s not “the right one,” then your work, personal relationships, and overall health continue to degrade as you try another medication, hoping that it’s better than the last. What if it takes a year or more just to figure out the right combination of medications?
This treatment method, known as polypharmacy, has been the only real choice we’ve had as a medical practitioners for finding the “right medication.” However, now with genetic testing, you only have to wait two weeks until you get a printout of how your body will respond to specific enzymes, compounds, and drugs so you know what will work and what won’t. You can even take that information with you to other doctors. As a result, you can be empowered to take control and ownership over your condition versus the “see what works” method. You’re now empowered to be an integral part of the treatment team rather than just a recipient of someone’s best guess.
Success breeds success. You have a shorter, more efficient, and overall less costly journey to get back to your ideal state of health.
If we give you the right tools, then a little bit of effort will go a long way. When you come to the PTI, we want you to be confident that you’re getting the best. As a result, you’re driven to succeed because you’re in the driver’s seat. Your empowered to be balanced because you have an innovative, trustworthy team behind you helping you to achieve your ideal state of health. In the end, you’re fulfilled because you’re teamed up with a group of professionals who are passionate about their work. We don’t just tout our core values to build ourselves up. We only highlight them so that you can know what your experience is going to be when you partner with us.
