  • The groups most likely to experience depression are people between ages 40-59, those who live at the poverty line, and women
  • People who live at or below the poverty line experience depression 2.5 times more than those who live above it
  • 43% of people with severe depression have difficulties performing everyday activities
  • Only 1 in 3 people who have symptoms speak to a medical professional
  • For people who do not seek treatment, mortality and suicide rates are especially high
